Talking about the tape bundling equipment for automobile wire harness

Tape is a widely used material in the automobile wire harness industry. There are two main process usages. According to the way that tape is wrapped on the wire harness, it is called taping to wrap the wire harness continuously at a certain distance, and bundling to wrap the wire harness only at a fixed point.

Due to circuit shunting and harness branching, it is often necessary to connect harnesses with different numbers and wire diameters. The wiring harness is often cut, peeled, and then crimped or ultrasonic welded. The exposed copper wire at the butt joint needs insulation and can be treated with heat shrinkable pipe and tape. Double wall heat shrinkable pipe can realize waterproof, but the relative cost is high and the efficiency is low. Therefore, tape binding is widely used in general occasions. With the development of technology, the tape strapping operation has been automated step by step from a purely manual way. The equipment used to realize the tape binding function is called tape binding machine, also called tape binding machine, tape taping machine, tape point wrapping machine in the industry, or Tapebundler or Spot taping machine in Europe and America. In the current market environment, in different wire harness factories, taking into account the factors such as cost and output, these different operation modes coexist from manual to automatic. This paper sorts out the tape binding process and equipment in the automobile wire harness industry, and makes a brief analysis according to the degree of automation.

1. Scissors/art knife

This is the most original way of working, just with the help of scissors or art knife. Use scissors to cut the tape to a certain length, or use a utility knife to cut off the interval distance of the rolled tape in advance, tear off the outermost section when using, and then the operator will manually bind the tape at the harness butt joint. This method has high flexibility, but low efficiency, high labor intensity and poor safety. The sticky tape will stick to your hands and hurt your skin. In addition, the length of the tape is not easy to ensure uniformity.

2. Tape cutting equipment

This is a common tape cutting machine, which can send and cut the tape according to the set length. It only needs to be taken away and manually tied at the harness butt joint. In this way, the length of the tape can be unified and the tape cutting can be automated. However, the manual binding operation is still required, with low efficiency, high strength and sticky tape.

3. Tape cutting+bundling automation equipment

In recent years, tape binding equipment with different degrees of automation has gradually emerged. The power is pneumatic or electric, and the specific implementation methods are different. However, its working principle is similar: install the tape on the upper fixed wheel, guide the tape to the bundling center through the feeding channel, hold both sides of the butt harness, press the butt joint of the harness on the tape for pre bonding, and then the tape is cut off. Then the hand-held harness continues to move forward, the harness of the pre pressed tape and the cut tape are sent to the binding center, and the device is triggered to rotate for a predetermined number of turns to achieve the purpose of tape binding. This kind of equipment realizes the automation of tape cutting and bundling, but it still needs to manually tighten the harness during operation. As the harness rotates in the bundling center, the operator needs certain strength to tighten and maintain the harness. Long term operation will make the operator's hands feel very tired.

4. The automation degree of the equipment of wire clamping+tape cutting+bundling automation is further promoted, and the new generation of belt conveyor can realize the function of wire clamping. The operator places the harness on the clamping claw, which triggers automatic gripping and straightens the harness for better binding, then the clamping claw automatically sends the harness to the bundling center for tape bundling, and the clamping claw automatically returns after bundling. In this way, the operator can avoid holding the harness with his hands all the time, reducing the labor intensity. At the same time, once the equipment is triggered, the operator can sort out the next harness for clamping operation, which further improves the work efficiency.

In addition, compared with the previous generation of machines, more configurable functions have been added, for example, the human-computer interface can be used to set the pre delivery length of the tape and the number of binding turns. More auxiliary devices are also added to ensure the smooth operation of the machine, such as automatic lubrication, so as to avoid cutter sticking, automatically sense the size of the tape diameter, and automatically calculate the required tape length.
